Let’s face it – wedding days are basically all about you, the bride. Everyone’s attention will be focused on you the entire day and you’ll want your perfect wedding dress (which most brides have at the very top of their wedding checklist – unsurprisingly!). You may have tried on a few already, or you may only just be starting your search. Either way, you’ve probably noticed that wedding dresses can be very, very expensive and can consume a significant portion of your wedding budget (they're usually one of the biggest wedding expenses). But, this doesn’t have to be the case. We’ve put together 5 tips on how to find your ideal dress at a reasonable price:
1. Shop around.
We’ve mentioned this in a few blog posts now, but it applies in almost all circumstances – shop around! There are lots of stores and designers that sell wedding dresses, so make sure you look around. Some novice designers might even customise a dress for you at cheaper rates. Also, if you find similar dresses in different stores, try and play the stores off against each other to get a better deal.
2. Consider Second-Hand dresses.
Wedding dresses tend to be very expensive and they’re usually only worn once. So why pay all of that money for a brand new one-time dress? If you are happy to buy second-hand, you could save quite a lot of money and still get the dress you want. There are websites that specialise in selling second-hand wedding dresses (hop on Google and have a look). And if the dress is slightly different to your size and shape, you can go and see someone who specializes in wedding dress alterations and get the dress altered.
3. Consider Hiring a dress.
Similar to buying a second-hand dress, you could get the wedding dress you want at a reasonable price if you’re happy to hire a wedding dress. There are many, many businesses that specialise in formal wear hire, so make sure to check Google and see what’s on offer. Plus, you won’t have to worry about selling the wedding dress afterwards – just return it to the hire store!
4. Consider buying online and/or overseas.
You’re well aware that online retail has been exploding in recent years. You could buy wedding dresses from overseas or interstate if you have your dress-size and body measurements handy. Again, hop on Google and see what you can find.
5. Consider using buying agents.
This is perhaps a newer service, but there are people out there that specialise in buying wedding dresses for brides like you. For example, you might tell them what type of wedding dress you want and they will source your wedding dress for you (and they might look overseas - and possibly at a very reasonable price). This is an option worth pursuing and would allow you to make someone else cope with the stress of shopping for a wedding dress. And you could get that nice lace or chiffon wedding dress without exceeding your budget!
We hope the above tips help you find the wedding dress you want within your budget. Have fun shopping for your wedding dress (and even try and make a day of it with your bridal party).

So you think you want to wear a veil. But you also think you might want to wear a bridal headpiece. You might be asking yourself “can I wear a headpiece even though I’m wearing a veil?” This is actually a surprisingly common question and the simple answer is … yes!
